# read

Area: Read data. Safety: read-only.

Read `count` typed values (kind u8..u64, i8..i64, f32, f64, ptr, cstr, wstr; default u64, count 1, max 256) as `va value` rows; pointers are named. `type` reads a user type instead: one row per field.

## Parameters

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `address` | string | yes | Address (0x-hex or decimal), a name, or `off:<n>` for a file offset. |
| `count` | integer | no | Values to read (default 1, max 256). |
| `kind` | string | no | What to decode the bytes as (default u64). Values: `u8`; `u16`; `u32`; `u64`; `i8`; `i16`; `i32`; `i64`; `f32`; `f64`; `ptr`; `cstr`; `wstr` |
| `type` | string | no | A user type instead of kind: `Rec`, `Rec[4]`, `char[16]`. |
