# search

Area: Find. Safety: read-only.

Search the whole file for bytes (AOB hex, ?? wildcards) or kind=text substring; hits as `function: va va ...` rows, `off=<n>` where unmapped; offset/limit (200, max 500).

## Parameters

| `count_only` | boolean | no | Only the count (default false). |
| `kind` | string | no | What the query is (default bytes). Values: `bytes`; `text` |
| `limit` | integer | no | Max hits (default 200, max 500). |
| `offset` | integer | no | Hits to skip (default 0). |
| `query` | string | yes | Hex bytes with ?? wildcards (kind=bytes) or a literal substring (kind=text). |
